Blackmilitaryworld.com is product of Black Military World LLC.  Founded in August, 2007, by retired Black Veterans of the U.S. Military. Blackmilitaryworld.com is the first website of its kind which provides a daily source of news, information, history, and a variety of other information to interested viewers, both employed by the Department of Defense and non-military.

CDR (Ret.) Gregory A. Black -  Founder and Website Designer

CDR (Ret.) Black is a 21 year veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served as a Navy Diving Officer and Surface Warfare Officer. A native of Owensboro, Kentucky, Black was an All-State football player and attended Eastern Kentucky University on a football scholarship. Black's father, brother, uncle and several cousins all served in the Navy. After college he entered the Navy and became the Navy history's third black diving officer. Since his military retirement in 2001, he has taught Navy High School NJROTC, and published a news-magazine for Blacks in the military.   

Throughout his naval career Black has worked with youth development efforts in several cities and has won numerous awards and citations for his committments. He has also worked tirelessly to improve equal opportunity in the Navy.

Since launching Black Military World, Mr. Black has been contacted for comments and interviews by CNN, NBC Nightly News. CBS Evening News, Jim Lehrer Online Newshour, Mario Van Peebles Documentary (Bring your A game.), The Associated Press (AP), Stars and Stripes, The New York Times, Military.com, Essence Magazine, Black Enterprise Magazine, National Public Radio (NPR), Boston Globe, Radio One Detroit, XM Radio, National Urban Radio, Pacifica Radio and several others, on issues related to the black military experience. He has also appeared in several documentaries related to the experience as well.

Black Military World LLC is currently based in the Washington DC area, and covers news and events throughout the world.  It maintains an impressive listing of writers, educators, researchers and news stringers who provide content for website. Black Military World LLC is also a developer and distributor of a growing number of products and services unique to the black military experience. The company also host and participates in several annual events relating to Blacks in Military, including history presentations, job fairs, recognition events, etc.

Blackmilitaryworld.com's Mission is simply to celebrate and recognize the contribution and struggles of Black Americans in the military service of this nation from it's foundation until today. Neither this website nor the Black Military World LLC necessarily serves the interest or the goals of the Department of Defense or the U.S. Government. We realize that many members may be opposed to war and national policy, but still appreciate this valuable role that Black Americans have played throughout American military history. We represent the interest of our members in their quest to learn about and celebrate a heritage that is a vital part of the American story.
