* During the Revolutionary War, New York had the highest percentage of African Americans of all the colonies.
* It's estimated that 95% of the blacks that served in Viet Nam had never heard of the country before the start of the war in the 1950's.
* Although many know that Henry O. Flipper was the first black graduate of West Point, few are aware that he was later awarded a patent for a tent he designed in 1898.
